Solgar’s Folate (also referred to as Vitamin B9) is the naturally occurring form of vitamin B9 found in food. Like many B vitamins, folate has many functions in the body including supporting normal blood formation, the immune system, heart health, nervous system, metabolism and the formulation of healthy red blood cells. Folate is also very important for women who are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant as it supports normal healthy growth and development of the foetus. Before folate can do any of this it must first be converted into its ‘active’ form. It does this b a series of biochemical steps, but because this product is made from metafolin (L-methylfolate) is does not require a conversion as it is already ‘body ready’ or in its bio-active form. This is important for people who have trouble converting folic acid to its active form. This product is free from gluten, wheat, dairy, soya, yeast, preservatives, artificial flavours or colours and is suitable for vegans.
